SUBWAY MASTER COSPLAYS.

Yukari and I had been planning to cosplay Nobori and Kudari (Ingo and Emmet) for over a year and we finally finished these monster coats for Fanime this year!!

You guys, these costumes are ridiculous. Yukari and I tag-teamed it with figuring out the nonsense that would make these outfits look true to the character designs. We decided on a dual-toned copper taffeta for the stripes to create an effect similar to reflective tape found on traffic cones, and the grey trim is actually a pinstripe sharing some of the copper colors in there. I developed the structure of the coat (which is achieved with buckram, boning, and aluminum rods) while Yukari tackled the goofy wig structure with their funky sideburns. We also handmade the hats and neckties from scratch.

Also, our props are bought, but they are both vintage items from circa 1945: Nobori holds a large pocketwatch that Yukari pulled off of a mantle clock, and Kudari is holding a functional railroad lantern.

The joltik on my back is also bought.

lol Bekalou beat me to uploading photos here XD BUT LOOK OUR FINISHED SUBWAY MASTER  COSPLAYS. So much planning and work went into these outfits - Bekalou found the awesome pinstripe and copper taffeta fabrics used on the coats as well as the tie&armband fabric, and we also coordinated on getting the same type of shoes and pants (and the mirror contact lenses!) so we’d be even more matching.

I really am so proud of how these turned out, our hard work really shows. We both can’t wait to do a legit photoshoot somewhere with actual trains!

I’m working on a tutorial - “Better Shots in 5 Minutes or Less!” It’s chock-full of useful stuff -  things I wish I’d learned a LOT easier in my photo life, so I’m sharing them with YOU! It’s stuff you can change RIGHT now, and can use for any photos (whether it’s costumes or your grandma!)
“Better Shots” is going to be a full PDF file with lots of shiny photos of what NOT to do, and how to fix common mistakes! It will be distributed free through the Mailing List. (So if you’re already on, it’ll come right to your inbox! Neat!)In the meantime, I’m going to throw up some bonus tips over the next couple of weeks. Hope you find them useful! I’m really looking forward to sharing this. Cheers!(Thank you to wonderful model JadeKat!)

An unexpectedly cute picture!  XD  I’m looking forward to the finished tutorial.  As a volunteer, I got a sneak-peak, and it’s gonna be good!
